Aug. 12 – Benton Area Transit Public Engagement Session #1

Benton County is exploring the best way to deliver Benton Area Transit (BAT) services with the goal of improving backend operations to meet increasingly stringent requirements for state and federal funding. As part of this process, we want to find out how well current and planned services meet community needs.

This engagement session is an opportunity to let Benton County know how you use BAT services — including fixed route services and BAT Lift — and what could be refined to make services better. If you’re new to BAT, come learn about the Coast to Valley Express, 99 Express, paratransit and more.

What’s on the agenda:

• Meet transit staff and the BAT project team
• Update on proposed changes to federal regulations
• Establish shared terminology for discussions around BAT
• Overview of current and planned BAT services
• Group discussion: how riders use BAT; how services could be improved

Public feedback shared in the meeting will shape the draft implementation plan and enhanced contract being created for future service delivery. The meeting will be conducted by BAT project staff with support from consultants. The Board of Commissioners will not be in attendance.
